Simon Scales has been an Art Director and Concept Artist for the last 10 years in Australia, where his face has been known from town to town around the poker table. Simon has worked at many studios, such as Bluetongue Entertainment (THQ), End Game Studios, Hueyʼs Planet and he has defined the look of multiple AAA and social game titles. Simon’sskills include character design, environment design and matte painting, the beauty of his work transcending the bounds of simple reality.

Simon was accepted into the Concept Design Academy in Los Angeles in 2008 where he was instructed by some of the world’s best concept artists, many of which still owe him money.

Besides working at Mighty Kingdom, Simon is now the director/instructor of the Concept Design Workshop that educates young talent within the game/movie industry. His talents continue to grow and flourish, and in turn his disciples emerge from his teachings with fresh perspectives of both their work and their lives.

Elena continued further education at Kent State University (USA) and was absolutely impressed and excited with how much impact Information Technology had on modern society. With the tilt of her head and a sweet, song-like whistle sent forth to the winds, a great eagle descended, taking her to Australia where she was recruited into Mighty Kingdom to lead the many troops on the field of battle. Or she took a plane, I guess. I don’t know, whatever.

Before moving to Australia from Belarus, Elena worked as a project manager in a game development company managing clients such as MTV. Truly enjoying her job and wishing to continue her development in the video games industry she continues to this day working with Mighty Kingdom, organizing projects, staff, events and laying the tactical groundwork for the Kingdom’s rapid expansion into enemy territory, and places unknown.

Mark Riley has over 6 years experience in the video game entertainment industry. His passion for creating virtual worlds began by developing independent game modifications before gaining full-time employment in the Brisbane office of Krome Studios in 2007. Mark started in Quality Assurance before quickly being fast-tracked into the Video Game Design team in Adelaide due to his passion for the industry, proficiency in design and writing as well as his strong work ethic and easygoing personality.

Mark took to Game Design with dedication and adaptability, displaying a good mind for creating game systems as well as a strong creative drive. His responsibilities grew beyond design documentation, eventually encompassing pitch document and proposal writing, team leading, liaising between studio and publisher and overseeing the implementation of designed systems into the game. He has a series of high profile games on his résumé, including: Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, Scene It: Box Office Smash and many more, and he has worked with international Publishers such as Lucasarts, Warner Brothers, Microsoft, KMM and Konami.

With the closure of Krome Studios in 2010, Mark has continued his involvement in the Video Game industry – perhaps as much of a testament to his foolish nature as anything else. He is currently consulting on several independent titles in addition to his role as the Lead Game Designer for the Adelaide-based company Mighty Kingdom. He is currently writing this whilst in the past, only for you to be reading it in the future, so… other than his common jesterlyduties, he has also, apparently, mastered some kind of quantum time-traveling deal. Now that’s entertainment.

Karlʼs passion and skill as a 3D artist was honed to perfection during his studies at Media Design School in Auckland, New Zealand, where he also trained in secret, under the cover of the night to become a Master Thief. After graduating he was quickly snapped up by a prominent local developer, quickly becoming a cornerstone of their art team. Little could they have known that they were a mere cover for him to perform some of the greatest heists in the country’s history.

Karlʼs reputation for producing excellent work under tight deadlines brought him to the attention of Krome Studios who headhunted him to join their Adelaide office. Karl worked there for several years, contributing to games such as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Star Wars: Clone Wars: Republic Heroes before leaving to follow his heart to Japan, the land of beauty and low-hanging coin purses.

When Mighty Kingdom was founded, Karl was their first choice to lead the 3D art team, not to mention his inherent talent for spying and liberating enemy plans and supplies. Although geographically distant, Karl is an integral part of the team. His own personal style has been shaped by his experiences in Japan, creating a unique style that manages to bring out the best of both Western and Eastern influences. The satchels of pure gemstones he ships back home to the Kingdom don’t hurt, either.

Robinʼs history of designing digital content spans 10 years, having worked as a Video Game Designer with Krome Studios in Adelaide and as a Web Designer for Elsevier Publishing in the Netherlands. His vow of silence prevents him from describing his exploits in the field, though stories exist of the brown-robed monk who would just flip out and start punching people at the drop of a hat.

Robin currently works with Mighty Kingdom designing mobile and tablet applications. Prior to his current role, Robin worked on projects for clients including Lucas Arts, Warner Brothers, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and Konami. When he looks at you, he stares into your very soul. So it’s best to wear a couple of layers.

He attended the Australian Science and Mathematics School and Flinders University where he studied a vast variety of subjects including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Human Physiology, Neural Science, Nutrition, Psychology, Politics, Ethics, Media, Graphic Design and French. Notably, feeling he was well learned in computer related subjects, Andrew chose to pursue studies in his other interests. His hunger for knowledge led to a bustle of inventions and contraptions in his alchemy lab, his remedies and elixirs soon drawing the attention of Mighty Kingdom, recruiting the seemingly youthful Wizard to bring his knowledge of the arcane to the battlefields.

Andrew was introduced to programming at age 10 by a book on BASIC and Dr. Michael Cooper, a veteran in the video games industry. Within two years he had produced his first dynamic football tipping website for a social club at a nearby university and a local law firm. Following this he continued casually programming small projects throughout his studies. However, with the release of the iOS SDK, Andrew decided to defer the completion of his studies and turned his focus to creating great mobile apps, supplying the ragtag adventurers of Mighty Kingdom with a source of wisdom far beyond his years.

Lord of all dwarves, Joseph is well worth his weight in beard. Which is significant. With over 10 years industry experience as a programmer, he has worked in both Australia and the UK on a variety of mobile and desktop platforms with such companies as Ideaworks3D!, BAE Australia and Qinetiq. After more than 6 years of commercial programming, Joseph the Beard-Faced took his hammer in one hand and with the other clutching a greasy leg of mutton, he left the life of defense programming to make the transition to video game development with Krome Studios Adelaide.

After the closure of Krome Studios, Joseph was a sought-after commodity. He was recruited by Mighty Kingdom as a Unity programmer for iOS devices, a new and worthy foe for him to test his mettle against.

Born in Middle-Earth (More commonly known as New Zealand), Phil worked for one of the country’s largest IT providers before studying a Graduate Diploma in Game Development. He since took his Honed Blade of +1 Programming to Australia, where he worked at Midway Studios (previously the premiere game development studio Ratbag Games), where he met Regent Jindou of House Lee. When Midway crumbled, Phil went on to establish himself as a Senior Programmer in the Adelaide Krome Studios development team, working on many successful titles; such as several games in the Star Wars series and other movie-franchise games. King Philip grew weary with the turbulent nature of the large-scale game development scene and took his steed out into the night, looking for new challenges.

The iPhone presented the perfect opportunity, and Philip eventually leapt from the saddle to form Mighty Kingdom with his long-time Colleague and brother-in-arms, Jindou. Philip now splits his time between developing his passion projects and managing other like minded individuals to produce successful games and applications for multiple platforms, all the while keeping the forces of darkness at bay.

In 2011 we started working with Mighty Kingdom on our concepts for the video modeling application, iModeling™ app, and the safe touch app, iModeling Boundaries™ app. Although Jindou and Phil didn’t know anything about Autism Spectrum Disorders they have done a great job in converting our ‘paper’ ideas for the apps into real and practical ideas. Every idea is always possible (according to Phil) but maybe not always realistic (budget and time frame) Jindou and Phil have always been able to guide our ideas into the right direction. We are very proud of both our apps!
Everyone at Mighty Kingdom is fantastic to work with and we hope we are able to develop more apps withthem in the future!
